2023 - 8th Annual miCHILIgan hang.  October 12-15, 2023.   

• Diesel & Karla "with a K" teamed up to resurrect the hang and ensure it didn't die out.  Once Paul & Missy McWalters confirmed they were ready to hand over the hosting responsibilities and instead participate on a different level, Diesel and Karla organized a Board of Directors. 

• Five main volunteer positions were created.  Those are: - raffle coordinator, marketing coordinator, logistics coordinator, weekend events coordinator and camp chef. 

• Thursday night was officially added to the hang.

• Name of the hang was offically changed to miCHILIgan

• Squirrel mascot was started

• UGQ returned as main sponosor.  They hosted Friday night dinner and contributed top raffle prizes. 

• Stephanie Arends joined as Marketing Coordinator

• Local NCT Chief Noonday Chapter agreed to store equipment for the hang.    

• $750 was brought in from the raffle.  $200 kept for 2024 and $550 donated to the NCTA Chief Nooday Chapter.

• Chili Competition Winners:

  • Best Traditional Chili - Eli Ruggles with his Sweet Chili

  • Best Non-traditional Chili - Jerry with his Chicken Enchilida Chili

• Stephanie Arends received the first ever Acorn Award. (The Acorn Award was created by Karla "with a k" to honor someone who has done something to help out miCHILIgan.  It might be something large or something small to win this honor.  The honoree will receive one of the 100 acorns from inside the award and add a piece of paper with a quote/poem/saying.   Sometime in the future, someone will decide when a good time to open up and read those pieces of paper.)

• Steve W joined the Board as Weekend Events Coordinator

• Ted joined the Board as Logistics Coordinator

2022 - No one stepped up to host the hang

2021 - cancelled due to Covid pandemic. 

• A few hangs started to return across the US

2020 - cancelled due to Covid pandemic.

• Almost all hangs across the US were cancelled

2019 - 7th Annual MI Fall Hang and Chili Festival  

• Erin English & Phillip "Nannook" Dunlap hosted. 

• $500 donated to NCT

2018 - 6th Annual MI Fall Hang and Chili Festival  

• BoulderV7  & Pam hosted and organized raffle.

2017 - 5th Annual MI Fall Hang and Chili Festival

• hosted by  Paul & Missy McWalters of UGQ.  

• Raffle organized by BoulderV7.

2016 - 4th Annual MI Fall Hang and Chili Festival

• UGQ asked BoulderV7 to organize a raffle. 

• Ryan decided to donate the profits to the NCT since it goes right through Yankee Springs Rec area and HF has a history of its members hiking and backpacking along the NCT.
